There are two types of spells in Rialto: Arcane and Divine

Wizards use Arcane spells and a spellbook is required to store the spells the character has memorized in. The wizard must always be in possession of their spellbook to be able to cast their spells. New spells are often found on scrolls or in other spellbooks. If a new spell is found, it can be copied to the spellbook. Once added to the book the new spell can be used. Wizards cannot use Divine scrolls. Nor can they use spellbooks with Divine spells written in them.

Clerics use Divine spells and a prayerbook is required to store the spells the character has learned in. The cleric must always be in possession of their prayerbook to be able to cast their spells. New spells are often found on scrolls or in other spellbooks. If a new spell is found, it can be copied to the prayerbook. Once added to the book the new spell can be used. Clerics cannot use Arcane scrolls. Nor can they use spellbooks with Arcane spells written in them.

* * Mana Points * *
Each spell caster starts out with a certain number of mana points based on their class. Mana points are used to cast spells. When a spell is cast mana is drained from the spell caster’s personal reservoir. When a spell caster runs out of mana, rest will refill the reservoir. Mana points are restored at 1/4 of the total for each hour of rest. Four hours of rest will restore all lost mana points.

Clerics: start with 6 Mana Points and gain 3 per level.
Wizards: start with 10 Mana Points and gain 5 per level.

* * Starting Out * *
Each spell caster starts out with a spellbook with FOUR spells in it and their full Mana Points. The four spells will be chosen by me (the admin) upon creation.
