Top Gear Sky Tutorial

On Top Gear they often use filters on the cameras to make the sky appear darker and more dramtic - to give the effect above.
There are several ways of achieving this but this is the easiest.
Open your image, and make a new layer.
Goto - Layer, New, Layer...
This opens a new blank layer over your image.
In this layer you need to make a black gradient starting at the top of the sky and finishing at the horizon.
Make sure your colour is set on black, goto the gradient tool on the left side of your screen, it will be set as either a paint bucket or a gradient, choose the gradient.
At the top of the window will be a set of gradient tools. You need to select the left to right gradient which is the first on the left in a row of what looks like a small flags.
Then from the drop down menu select the gradient which goes from black to checkerboard.
Now you have this selected just drag the gradient over the image, from the very top and stopping at the horizon.
You should now have have the image with a black gradient over the top.
Goto your layers window at the bottom right of the screen.
The layer will be set on normal. Where this drop down list is select the layer type - Overlay.
You can adjust the opacity to make it lighter if you wish and your done!
