Good Day!

Hobbs, America ... also known as the Oil Center ... was named for the James Hobbs family, which homesteaded here in 1907. Hobbs became first a trading village for ranchers and then a major oil town after the 1928 oil discovery by the Midwest Oil Company. The picture shown on the right is Tony Easton Dixon on his oil rig at present time.

Today, the city provides more than oil to it's community. It has numerous parks, three public swimming pools including an indoor pool at the High School Facility, plus more. The Lea County Event Center is the site for numerous events during the year including concerts, shows, and conventions. The Southwest Symphony presents concerts.  The Hobbs Community Players present numerous productions at the Community Playhouse. The town enjoys two movie theaters plus live horse racing at Zia Park. The community enjoy many annual events such as the Lea County Fair and Rodeo, Hobbs August Nites, Hobbs City Summer Fun, Family Fair, Arts and Crafts Shows, Annual Christmas Parade, plus more. Plus, there's plenty charities and organizations that you can get involved in, become a member or even help on a project.
