EXCLUSIVE:"Windchocombe" Cast & Director talk the film and horror!
HM&S recently got a chance to chat with the talented young cast of filmmaker Jeffrey J. Timbrell's upcoming supernatural genre pic One Week In Windchocombe, which is due out next year. Among the many questions we asked the cast in the very lengthy interview (Read It Here!), we asked them to describe their respective characters in the film, which follows a house built to manifest what are essentially your worst nightmares, resulting in a group of ambitious young people, being affected differently by what they encounter there as they film a reality show. One of the female leads in the movie Emily Schooley, clued us in on her character in the pic, Ivette. "Well, Ivette is a theoretical physicist, and she is insanely smart," she tells HM&S.com in the exclusive interview.
"Almost to the point of being Aspergers - she has an IQ of over 189 (over 140 is considered genius; when I did IQ testing back in school, I think I measured somewhere in the 130s, for comparison). Of course, she also comes from a troubled background, which only serves to escalate her feelings of isolation and hinders her ability to relate in normal social situations. She's got a great head on her shoulders, but she's also very aware of her own limitations and fears, which is one thing I really enjoy about portraying her - her feelings and reactions make her very real, very human."

Meanwhile, actor Richard "Andy" Malone says, his character in "Windchocombe", Conrad...isn't exactly the easiest guy to root for. "He is the type of character that doesn't mind exploiting people for profitable gain. To Conrad absolutely everything is about money," he reveals. "For him the show has to be perfectly built and must follow a specific structure that is common with most other reality shows. He wants to magnify the already troubled pscychological conditions of his Contestants to give the audience that extra drama and intensity. He loves fights and confrontation because it sells. He does have this charm though when he's in front of the camera that at times makes him seem like a very sincere guy. But it is an act. Conrad is a true businessman."

One of the villains of the movie, is a female character called "The Clockwork Princess", played by one Anna Ross. And Anna sums up her character in pretty graphic, fashion. "I can safely say that you would not want to run into her in a dark alley," Anna jokes. "Imagine having a possessed, sadistic china doll for a surgeon, and that may be the most concise way I can describe the character." As far as how Anna would sum up where "One Week In Windchocombe" fits...into the genre, she tells HM&S that it covers a wide spectrum of subgenres.
"One Week in Windchocombe" is a horror film that covers numerous subgenres. It has elements of a slasher film, but with supernatural twists and a psychological thriller-esque storyline," she says. "It also has a documentary feel to it, similar to "The Blair Witch Project" and "Paranormal Activity" -- the sort of film that you see and think, "Oh crap...this could actually happen." And in my opinion, those are the types of films that freak me out the most."
But this isn't the last we'll be seeing of Anna in the horror genre. Post "Windchocombe"...she'll be appearing in another supernatural horror pic, the doldrumesque film...The Collapsed. Further elaborating on the films story points and her character in it, Anna reveals..."I will be portraying Rebecca Weaver in "The Collapsed," which is about a family on the run from a mysterious entity in a bleak, apocalyptic setting."

Meanwhile "Windchocombe" Director Jeffrey Timbrell says for genre fans to expect the pic NOT to shy away from being graphic. "There will be froth, and vomit, and blood, and brains, and guts, and organs, and bones, and cannibalism, and dismemberment, and evisceration, and mud, and dirt, and people getting stabbed, and having their eyes punctured," he reveals. "There's some nasty stuff here for all of the actors. It should be a blast." During the chat, we also got the scoop on the slasher pic Black Eve, which follows a woman with psychic abilities, who retraces the last steps of her fellow guests at a Halloween party thrown in a closed down department store. A party after which all of the guests, turn up dead by morning. |
"Windchocombe" star Emily Schooley appears in the movie as Thea, and as far as when can we expect "Black Eve" to be released? Schooley says possibly this fall as a matter of fact! "I believe "Black Eve" is due out around Halloween this year if all goes according to plan," Emily says. Hopefully all does go according to plan, and we can tack on another genre release for the month of October, which would be the perfect time to send the film to disc. Then again, fall also includes November so ya never know. Meanwhile, You can read our full interview with the "Windchocombe" cast, by clicking the link posted early on the article!
