[Lost Boys:The Tribe]
Plot:In the shady surf city of Luna Bay, California, where vampires quickly dispatch anyone who crosses their path. Into this dark world arrive Chris Emerson (Hilgenbrink) and his younger sister, Nicole (Reeser). Having just lost their parents in a car accident, the siblings move in with their eccentric Aunt Jillian and become new prey for the locals’ way of life. When Nicole unwittingly falls for a local vampire, Chris must locate and destroy the gang’s lifeline before his sister’s transformation is complete; to do this Chris finds himself relying on the expertise of none other than Edgar Frog (Feldman).

Cast:Moneca Delain, Corey Feldman, Jamison Newlander, Angus Sutherland, Tad Hilgenbrink, Autumn Reeser, Tom Savini, Shaun Sipos, Kyle Cassie, Merwin Mondesir.

My Thoughts:Exactly what you'd expect.

Review:"Lost Boys:The Tribe", the sequel to the vampire cult classic "The Lost Boys" follows a brother and sister, young siblings who move into an aunts house in the small Malibu surfing town of Luna Bay. Upon arriving there, Chris and his sister Nicole attend a party at the house of a group of locals, who incidentally happen to be vampires. When the leader of the group manages to get Nicole to ingest his blood via a wine bottle, she soon becomes a thrall, a half-vampire.

Now with the help of Edgar Frog, Chris has to kill the new lost boys pack, and their leader before his sister feeds and becomes a full-fledged vampire. I have to admit, I was not a big fan of the original "Lost Boys". It just wasn't my kind of movie. The sequel however is not my kind of movie either, but it does just enough things right to be a decent, keyword...follow up to the original film. The movie doesn't offer up much in the realm of good performances, nor does it make the vampire mythos scary at all. In fact, there hasn't been a scary vampire movie in quite some time.

"The Tribe" is a vampire movie along the lines of the hip, new age, edgy, trendy sort of vampire film. Think "Dracula 2000" meets "MTV's:The Hills" basically. It boasts the typical plastic-looking surf town people, the typical plastic surf town names, and the typical plastic surf town dialogue. The only good thing about this film from a character standpoint would be Feldman's return as Edgar Frog. What little screentime he gets, he makes the most of it. And saves the film from an otherwise snooze-worthy descent. There's also not alot of variety or depth in this picture, everything plays out exactly how you'd expect it to.

Chrises sister is half human half vampire, so he now has to allow himself to be truend in order to trick the vampires into believing he is interested in becoming one of them, just so he can stake thme in the back so to speak, and get deep enough into their inner-circle to save his sister. Did you really see it turning out any other way? Because I didn't. Predictability is rampant in this movie, and despite it's attempts at humor, and cool-looking vampire kills, it all seems the same....been there, done that. You would think with being a sequel to "The Lost Boys", a film which alot of people are apparently fans of, that "The Tribe" would atleast attempt something original. But it doesn't.

Instead, it plays by the rules, by the book, and does nothing to amaze, surprise, or even interest the viewer. The tribe aren't even formidable opponents for the films good guys, which is what the first film did well. Making Sutherland's character and his pack formidable villains. But in part two, these guys are just vamp-teens high on their vampire powers with no real nefarious goals except to seduce unsuspecting girls so they can drink them dry. Talk about typical and cliche. The films finale is the only slightly bright spot it has, as Chris and Edgar enter the vampire den to save his sister and defeat the head vampire.

But without Feldman's character making the ending into a remotely watchable conclusion, even the finale would've fell flat. If you're in the 13 to 17 age group, and are a surburban white chick, you'd probably rave over this film. But for the 18-30 guy who is looking for a hardcore vampire movie to entertain him for 90 minutes or so as a movie lover and a horror fan, best to look elsewhere. "Lost Boys:The Tribe" is a waste of 90 minutes, and amounts to nothing but a decent followup to an old school vampire movie.

Positives:Feldman's scenes, the finale was pretty good, the aunt was funny.

Negatives:Lousy villains, Chris and Nicole are extremely annoying, a script that takes no real risks creatively.

Overall:One and a half stars.
