My Thoughts:A new age "Shining"?? Jeezus christ.

Review:Let me just say that if Jack Nicholson were dead, he'd be rolling over in his grave after learning this film is being hailed as a new age "The Shining". "Lost Signal" follows two dumb smalltown kids, a couple in fact....who go to a New Year's Eve party. During the mixer, they're slipped some drugs into their shot drinks, and when Kevin catches the party host getting a bit too close to his girlfriend Tiffany, he splits....taking her with him. But on the way home, the two begin to get hit with the effects of the drug their drinks were spiked with, and that's when Kevin ends up running the car off the road.

As the drug kicks in more and more, they soon begin to hallucinate...and eventually turn on each other as someone or something may be stalking them. It's sad that this film is being compared to "The Shining". I mean come on, "The Shining"??? One of the best horror films of all time? A film which was steeped in the supernatural, whereas "Lost Signal" is stepped in utter bullshit? Come on, really. The movies title even suggests how bad it is. It's called "Lost Signal" because the couple keep making cellphone calls for help to the local 911 operator and because the drug is running through their system, and clouding their minds...they keep giving her false and bad info which hinders her ability to help them.

On top of all of that, the drug is making Kevin and Tiffany think the operator is warning one about the possibility of the other being out to murder them. So some kids get spiked at a party, have hallucinations, and the whole thing turns into one big tragedy. Why not call the movie "Just Say No To Drugs", or "Drugs Are Bad", or "This Is Your Brain On Drugs", or "Watch What You Drink At Parties", or my personal favorite..."Dumbassed Teenagers Get Themselves Into Some Shit...Again"? ANy one of those tittles would've sufficed.

The saddest thing about this movie is that Al Santos and Sandra McCoy, two very good young actors by the way...were the leads in this crapfest. I mean how far behind were they on mortgage payments that they had to sign up for this trash? Good grief. This marks the second "horrible" horror film for McCoy by the way. Let's not forget 2005's "slasher movie-but not really"...."Cry Wolf"...where she played the black guys girlfriend. For a very beautiful woman like her to be relegated to stuff like this, I mean I know acting requires talent, and McCoy has it....although it does need a tad bit of polishing, but really...I've seen worse actresses, far worse in fact in the latest mainstream horror film. So for god sake someone get McCoy into one, so she can stop doing stuff like this.

"Lost Signal" was even worse than ''Cry Wolf". Uwe Boll movies are better than "Lost Signal" was. If this film ahd any redeeming qualities, and I don't use that term lightly, it's that it was very visually appealing. The crisp look of the woods during the snowy winter time in smalltown U.S.A....that's about as good as this film gets. But then again, "Wind Chill" had the same thing going for it, and it was a far better film that "Lost Signal". Watching two doped-up teenagers chase each other through the woods while believing they're being chased by a serial killer, hearing voices, and being pursued by a possessed snowplow does not a horror film make.

And if things couldn't get any worse with "Lost Signal"...they throw in the "twist" ending, where all of a sudden one of the couple turns out to be a psycho-killer, but not really considering the story sucks and makes such little sense that we don't know why they killed and whether they meant it or not. "Lost Signal" is a total joke with a capital "J". It's films like this that give me migraines.

Positives:The end credits rolling.

Negatives:Everything from the lame ass story, to the equally lame ass ending.

Overall:No stars out of four.
