Lustig Updates "Maniac", "Maniac Cop" Remakes

Veteran filmmaker William Lustig was on hand at the recent New York City Horror Film Festival, and received the Lifetime Achievement award during the event. Afterwards, he also gave an update on the forthcoming remakes of
Maniac, and
Maniac Cop. "We already made a deal for the remake of 'Maniac' - there is a remake of 'Maniac' thats on its way, believe it or not" he revealed. "That deal is already closed. Now, Larry and I are in discussions for the remake of 'Maniac Cop'. We're not gonna be involved, but we'll collect a check. Actually, on the remake of 'Maniac', it's gonna say produced by William Lustig, but I'm going to have the least amount of involvement as a producer on the movie." |
On the subject of "Maniac Cop", originally, the plan was to do a fourth movie, a followup to part 3, the 1993 release "Maniac Cop:Badge Of Silence". But since the announcement, which was made some-time ago, that plan has apparently went south. Thus, looks like we're getting a remake.
