[Murder Loves Killers Too]
Plot:Big Stevie has a sexual problem. Murder is how he has sex. And Big Stevie knows that there is no better way for a repressed killer to blow off steam than killing a bunch of care-free free-spirited teens. And Big Stevie's problem could become Aggie's problem real fast.

My Thoughts:Eh, well.....it started off good.

Review:"Murder Loves Killers Too" is another indie slasher that does the wrong things at the wrong time. It starts off not taking itself seriously with the quirky characters, the hip and edgy soundtrack, and the demented killer. The film follows a group of friends who drive up to a rented cabin to basically "party". But things turn tragic really quickly for them (they have to, after all this is only an 80 minute film).

It seems some psychopath is lurking around the premises, and is picking the teens off one by one. But as usual, they're too busy smoking, having sex, and listening to rock music to really notice any of this. The scene which illustrates this the best is when one of the girls gets snatched up by the killer right on the terrace of the house, only to have her friends assume she went for a run in the woods. This film follows the typical slasher movie rules.

Think "Friday the 13th", or any one of it's many sequels. The movie is about as run-of-the-mill as they come. Except in one aspect though, the killer. The killer is extremely lame. He's a big, balding, middle-aged suburban white guy. The least they could've done was given him some sort of cool outfit, but no....we get a guy who looks like he was on his way home from a bowling tournament, and decided to stop by and whack some good-looking teenagers.

How boring, and how disappointing. Especially considering the film starts off by not showing too much of the killer within the time frame of his first two kills. Then once he's seen fully, the reaction is...."oh...that's him? Oh....um....okay...whatever." Not sure what exactly the director and writer were trying to convey with this film. I assume it's that a normal average every day suburban white guy can easily be a sick, depraved, serial killer. But then again, we already knew that right?

I mean "Scream"? "American Psycho"? And lets not forget the real life killers like Bundy, and the BTK killer. "Murder Loves Killers Too" really got off to a good start, but then as it goes along, it's like a cheaply built car. The wheels begin to come off, and soon the car is just a hunk of metal stuck sitting on the road. The worst part being the middle of the movie where the final remaining girl is trying to evade the killer.

That's when the film for some reason, decides to get serious, suspenseful, and become a serious piece of cinematic art. Yeah.....right. Should've thought of that before the films first 15 minutes guys. The sad attempt at "serious horror", is then followed up by a very shitty third act, where the killer returns home, and pretty much reveals himself to the viewer as nothing but a sick, middle-aged chump, who has a philandering wife, and one of those angsty, goth, teen daughters.

The writer just went nuts with this movie, as it seemed he was trying to stuff three movies into one. I still don't know why we go from "Friday the 13th"-esque slasher, to serious suspense horror, ala "The Strangers", to some twisted episode of "Desperate Housewives". "Murder Loves Killers Too" is a lot of things. It's a slasher movie in the very basic sense, it's exploitation horror, and it's an attempt at throwback horror.

But one thing it isn't, is a good, coherent, horror film. It's a decent time waster if you're obsessed with the slasher or indie genres, but if you're looking for an indie horror film that holds promise, then keep on moving down the aisle of your local video store, and search elsewhere.

Positives:The opening 15 minutes. The very final scene.

Negatives:A seemingly disjointed storyline, the film tries to take on too many different forms, instead of sticking with what got it to the dance. The killer is just laughable, and the chase scenes are pathetic.

Overall:Half a star out of four.
