As Loren becomes obsessed with her neighbor’s behavior, she is unaware that he is monitoring her just as closely – like a hungry wolf stalks its prey at night.

My Thoughts:Never see "Never Cry Werewolf".
Review:Well, I can safely say...I've never seen a very bad werewolf movie recently. The last one I saw was one of the "Howling" sequels back when I was 17 years old I believe. But "Never Cry Werewolf" in recent memory, is one of the worst werewolf movies I have seen. Part "Disturbia", and part "Cursed"...the film follows a young suburban girl who has a new male neighbor move in across the street. The local women are pretty hot for the guy, which makes him sort of a lady killer. Of course, we soon come to find out that the saying with him, is literal...as he's apparently a werewolf.
A werewolf who holds a past connection of sorts to his young neighbor across the street. The film doesn't do much to distinguish itself from other werewolf movies. It's not an original product by far. And if you're a horror buff, or a werewolf movie buff...then you can pretty much see every twist and turn comign in "NCW", and should find it to be a very predictable 2-hour waste of time. The furry neighbor guy brings home different girls every other night, while his neighbor watches him, and as the girls begin to disappear and even be attacked in her presence as she watches him through a telescope in her room...she tries to warn her neighbors, and some of his potential victims about his "wolfish" ways.
As usual, her friends think she's a kook, and no one believes her. Including the local cops who upon showing up, just tell her she's "too old to be believing in such ridiculous folklore", and go about their merry way. Similar to how "Disturbia" played out where Kale called the cops on his serial killer neighbor, only to have the killer make a fool out of him by disposing of the evidence beforehand. In fact, watching "Never Cry Werewolf"...you'd think Director Brenton Spencer and writer John Sheppard had watched "Disturbia" beforehand, and thought to themselves..."Hey, wouldn't it be killer if we made a movie just like this, only instead of having a middle aged serial killer as the villain...we'd have a werewolf guy in his mid 30's"?
The acting by Nina Dobrey as Loren, the main character is also not very up to snuff. But then again, with movies like this...it seems that the important thing is to have a good looking girl in the lead, and basically to hell with her acting skills. A train of thought which makes films like this even more painful to watch. The dude playing the werewolf is pretty sad and stoic himself, and Hercules himself, Kevin Sorbo even makes an appearance...as a werewolf hunter named Redd who Loren goes to for help with her "werewolf" problem.
Sorbo, while sporting a pretty neat costume...gets into the character well enough, and actually looks like he was having alot of fun playing the role. More fun that Dobrey seemed to be having playing her character anyways. The werewolf isn't bad looking for a SCI-FI Channel movie, but coloring it black hides alot of the CGI flaws which is probably why that decision was made during production I reckon. But all in all..."Never Cry Werewolf" is a by-the-numbers werewolf movie which is more so a werewolf movie for the very young, and not the 18 and over crowd.
It skimps on blood and gore (even the cgi brands), lacks any true scares, and doesn't even try to push the envelope at all. In fact, it's so unscary, and un-edgy, that I am shocked it made the cut at SCI-FI, who while most of the time air crappy originals, atleast air crappy originals with alot of blood. "Never Cy Werewolf" is better suited for an afternoon matinee on ABC FAMILY, instead of a Sunday nighter on SCI-FI.
Positives:Kevin Sorbo puts forth a good effort into his character Redd.
Negatives:No blood or gore, bad acting by Dobrey and most of the other cast members, no real scares, and an overall boring, cliche, and predictable plot.
Overall:A werewolf movie with no bite.
