In Episode 10 of HBO's "True Blood"...Sookie and Sam pick up where they last left off. In episode 9, we find out that Sam was the dog which arrived at Bill's House to greet Sookie. Sookie finds this out in quite hilarious fashion at the conclusion of ep 9, and it's obvious leading into ep 10 that Sam will have some explaining to do. Which he does, much to Sookie's shock and dismay. But what any right-minded person suspected about Sam's abilities is exactly what turns out to be the truth about Sam. |
So anyone looking for a major swerve such as anything outerspace related can just chill out...because it's a big fat "NO" on that one. Sookie however doesn't take the news of Sam's origins very well at all, and with her on again off again relationship with Bill the vampire, she begins to think that it's all becoming too much for her. She's also pretty freaked out about having another person close to her turn out to be a member of the supernatural.
Tara meanwhile goes through with the exorcism at Ms. Jeanette's place and comes out of it feeling pretty good. In fact, the benefits of the exorcism begin to pay dividends for Tara immediately, as she seems to come out of it a whole new person. The exorcism scene itself was pretty well done for a tv show, not a feature film which would be able to pour more visual effects money into this particular scene. But I think the Louisiana backdrop was what made it so effective because there's something about Louisiana and the deep south that always makes anything voodoo or supernatural-related that much more creepy. Tara's good and high spirits don't last too long however as she finds out a major secret.
But the secret keeper is pretty hooked in to Tara and her mothers life, and warns her against opening up a can of worms which life could go on just as fine as it's going now if Tara doesn't open them. This puts Tara in a tight spot between telling the truth, and opening what could be an unnecessary can or worms. A decisionwhich weighs on ehr throughout the entire episode, and eventually puts her in a dangerous position later on. Bill meanwhile has to attend a tribunal to testify to why he killed a vampire in order to save a human. This going back to the incident at FANGTASIA where vampire Longshadow was revealed to be the thief, and was very close to killing Sookie to protect his secret after Sookie's mind-reading of a few human FANGTASIA employees came up empty.

The tribunal scenes are some of the episodes best moments, as despite the whole deal being st in a junkyard...it is played out in very serious and dark fashion...which add a certain tenseness to the whole situation. And the fact that Bill's tribunal is lorded over by a very no-nonsense type of vampire...only makes the scenes alot more intriguing. Jason is still caught in his twisted triangle with Amy and the vampire he and her kidnapped to get their "V" fix from. Something which Lafayette confronts Jason about early on in the episode, and even threatens Jason over. As Jason's need for "V" has set in motion apparently, a series of events which could spell the end of Lafayette literally if things aren't straightened out or kept hush hush.
|
Amy (Lizzy Kaplan) in this episode however helps the kidnapped vampires warnings to Jason come to fruition as Amy commits a very violent and shocking act in order to keep Jason from disobeying an order which she gave him previously in respects to the kidnapped vampire. This turn of events should certainly throw hot grease onto an already really screwed up yet inetresting fire between Jason and Amy which seems to only be headed in an even more crazy direction. Episode 10 really sets up some exciting possibilities for this seasons final two episodes, airing on November 16th, and 23rd. I certainly cannot wait to see how season one concludes.
