TRUE BLOOD - Episode 9 Review:"Plasir D'Amour"

Episode 9 of HBO's "True Blood" puts Sookie back in the spotlight while pushing the focal storyline of Tara and her mother, to the background for the time being. At the end of episode 8, Sookie had been called in by the vamps over at FANGTASIA to help them ferret out a thief who had been stelaing money. She finds the thief, but it's not who the vamps had originally suspected it to be. This then led to the episode concluding with a deadly confrontation between Sookie and the thief. In "Plasir D'Amour", Bill manages to save Sookie from a grim fate at the hands of the thief, but Bill's over-zealousness manages to cause him problems of his own.

Jason and his new squeeze meanwhile manage to find a way to get themselves into even more trouble. At the end of the previous episode, they had kidnapped a local vampire in an attempt to fill their need for some more "V" blood. Now the situation has turned grave as they drain the vampire somewhat to get their fix, but the high doesn't last very long as the vampire begins to get weaker all the while screaming for someone to save him from his captors. This causes Jason to begin to lose his temper with the vamp somewhat, as well as with other people who unlike the vampire, ar ehis friends. I think we might be seeing some developing storyline here with the effects of "V" on Jason, sort of causing him to lose his temper and act irrational...like a typical junkie.

The vampire in the basement though warns Jason that his new "V" friend played by Lizzy Kaplan, is more dangerous than he knows. Lizzy's character actually gets some very interesting scenes in this episode, and you have to wonder that maybe she might be the killer of the towns murder victims, which include Sookie's grandmother. Tara has a small subplot in this episode, which includes Sam still trying to win her over and Tara proceeding to brush him off harshly. She then decides to pay a visit to Ms. Jeanette (the exorcist woman in the swamp) to look in to getting the exorcism that Ms. Jeanette gave her mother. Tara is apprehensive about the procedure however for a number of reasons, mainly being that she simply cannot afford the $800 dollar fee.

A problem which later on is solved by a generous friend of hers who is looking for a way into her life. But the big revelation in Episode nine comes during the finale as usual, and it goes back to Sam running through the woods a few episodes ago, and being spotted by a member of the local police force. Sam in episode nine is questioned about the incident, similar to being questioned about it in episode 8. Only then he was able to wiggle out of it with a story about him being a part of a nudist colony out of Texas. A hobby which he brought with him when he moved to town.

However...after doing some digging, the story comes up to be false and then Sam is re-questioned by oe of the local lawmen. However...he once again manages to elude having to answer any questions in an attempt to save Sookie who after work, decides to spend the night at Bill's place. But once she arrives there, and lets in a small furry friend...she soon awakens to a huge surprise in the middle of the night. Cooncluding the ep in a very hilarious fashion. Episode nine is the strangest episode so far, and I can't believe I'm saying that considering this show itself overall is very strange. But still, the episode manages to be very good and very entertaining.
