[Flight Of The Living Dead]
Plot:A renegade scientist smuggles a coffin with an infected body onto an international flight from LA to Paris. When the flight encounters two large storms, the body escapes the planes cargo hold, upon which it stalks the plane feeding on the flesh of the living.

Cast: Kevin J. O’Connor, Richard Tyson, Erick Avari, David Chisum, Kristen Kerr, Derek Webster, Raymond J.Barry, Dale Midkiff.

My Thoughts:Great campy horror film.

Review:When one hears the premise, zombies, plane, and outbreak...one thinks that this certainly cannot turn out good. But while "Flight Of The Living Dead" was a film that I had very mixed feelings about beforehand, afterwards....I was quite impressed. The movie follows the usual beginnings of any good horror film catastrophe, and in typical zombie movie fashion it's government underlings experimenting illegally with things they shouldn't be that is the beginning of the chaos which would soon ensue. A group of scientists have a secret cargo transported with them on a plane and soon the "thing" in the create so to speak..escapes. The "thing" turns out to be a human woman, who was brought back by a special reanimation serum, but once she's shot dead by one of the men guarding the cargo, that's when she goes zombie and pretty soon a terrifying zombie outbreak occurs, in mid-air no less.

"Flight Of The Living Dead" takes "Snakes on a Plane" and amplifies it ten fold with a worse case scenario of epic proportions. Forget poisonous snakes, what if the living dead who with one bite or scratch can make you one of them...were loose on an en route flight with human passengers aboard? Certainly a terrifying situation indeed, and director/writer Scott Thomas has fun toying with this scenario and really gives the viewer what they paid to see, and he does it quickly and in very intense, and stylish fashion. Once the zombie outbreak begins on the plane, it never stops and in any good zombie movie...little to no breaks in the action can always be appreciated. The zombies, reminiscent with "Snakes on a Plane", manage to catch their victims in the most shocking and surprising ways but are alot more attack-minded than any snake.

They really come after the passengers on this flight, er go their numbers double and triple pretty quickly. Making it the "flight from hell" for those who remain unbitten. "Flight Of The Living Dead" also plays out as a pleasant surprise on the acting front as well, and watching this movie it's obvious that as much time was put into character development as was put into setting up the zombie side of the story. Richard Tyson (Big Bad Wolf) who plays an undercover agent, and Kevin J. O'Connor (Deep Rising) who plays a man being transported to prison and who's being targeted by the Russian Mafia..head up a pretty stealthy cast of diverse characters who others range from a Tiger Woods-esque golfer and his hard-nosed wife, to two couples who are caught up in a Springer-esque love triangle.

All of the characters in the film are pretty enjoyable and likeable for the most part, and you really won't find any ultra-annoying characters in this film who you're just rooting for to die quickly and painfully. In fact "Flight Of The Living Dead" is one of the few films I can say that about lately. And being that the cast is pretty large, the movie also boasts quite a high bodycount. Blood and gorehounds (such as myself) won't be left out in the cold as Thomas litters his film with flesh-ripping, gut-tearing, blood splattering, decapitations, and other methods of gross, gory, and graphic deaths. "Flight Of The Living Dead" ends on an inconclusive note but it's no biggie really considering everything that comes before the very end is a very entertaining, fun intense, and wild ride. This is a film that many horror fans should enjoy, for a direct to dvd zombie movie.....it's probably the best I've seen in ages.

Positives:Huge amounts of blood and gore, likeable characters, good acting, a large body count, nasty looking zombies and some funny deaths as well.

Negatives:Nothing major.

Overall:A really kickass zombie picture.
