Ramsar Convention

The Convention on Wetlands, more widely known as the Ramsar Convention, is an intergovernmental treaty dating from 1971, with the following mission:

the conservation and wise use of all wetlands through local, regional and national actions and international cooperation, as a contribution towards achieving sustainable development throughout the world. Ramsar CoP8, 2002
