What Are The Parent Commitments At RCNS?

• Every member has the responsibility and privilege of helping in the formation of
  school policy.
  
  
• One member of each family is required to participate, on a rotating basis, as
  assistant to the teacher while school is in session. Members in the three-year-old and four-year old class are encouraged to participate in our carpooling program. *
  
  
• One member of each family is required to attend membership meetings scheduled throughout the school year. These meetings provide members with the opportunity to participate in discussions about co-op business and school policy, stay informed of upcoming events and classroom developments, and enjoy guest speakers and other informative programs addressing issues that affect us all.
  
  
• One member of each family is required to serve on a committee such as fundraising, newsletter or the library committee, or serve as an elected officer on the Executive Board.
  
  
• One member of each family is required to participate in two major school cleanings per year; one for the purpose of opening the school, and one on an assigned month later in the year.
  
  
• Every family is expected to support and participate in fundraising activities that are held throughout the year.
  
  

* Carpooling is an integral part of the cooperative experience here at RCNS. It is the start of the nursery school day, part of the fun where conversing, singing, listening and playing occurs in a uniquely small group. The children also learn to rely on another adult which carries into the classroom experience. Some of the best conversations take place in this mobile unit. An attuned parent may be able to pick up and help resolve potential nursery school problems in this small group.
