Why Choose RCNS?
"Becoming a member of RCNS changed the way I look at my children, the way I look at myself as a parent, and how my children and I see the world around us. I will always look to my experiences at RCNS for inspiration as I guide my kids through life."
-- Wanda Octaviano, RCNS parent, Board member, 1999-2003
Choosing An Alternative Path To Early Education
Parents choose RCNS because they want to be actively involved in their child's early childhood education. By taking the extra time and making the extra effort that is required in a cooperative, parents help create and enrich their child's first school experience. At RCNS, parents have the chance to celebrate and learn from those fleeting first years of discovery with their children, gaining first-hand knowledge and understanding of their child's world.
Children benefit from a warm and nurturing environment where they learn by playing and interacting with other children. The goal is to make learning an integral part of daily classroom activities without the need for "formal" lesson time. Parents and teachers act as facilitators to help motivate the children to explore and problem solve. Children leave RCNS with a positive self-image, an interest in learning and the social skills needed to succeed in their new classroom environments.
Members of RCNS make personal contacts that often extend beyond the classroom as friendships and as parental resources that last a lifetime. They become part of an extended family -- a remarkable community of parents and educators whose highest aspirations are for the future of the children.
